EID AL FITR

STUDY AND ANSWER THE QUESTION BELOW (JSS-SSS)

Happy Eid al Fitr to all the Islamic leaders and parents. Eid al Fitr is also called Id al Fitr. It is an Islamic holiday that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. The word Ramadan is gotten from the Arabic word “ramad” which means the “hot month” or dryness.

However Ramadan is not tied to a particular season, since Judaism and Islam use the lunar calendar which has 354 days, so it’s 12months slowly cycle through different seasons. The Christians use the Gregorian calendar.

During the Ramadan period and at the end of it, Zakat al Fitr, which is the charitable acts, and Eid, which is the prayers are done as stipulated in the Islamic sacred book called the Quran. The Muslims only obey the laws in the Quran which are called Sharia.

Ramadan is usually a fast of Thirty days and at the end of the fast a holiday is declared which is the Eid al Fitr and a celebration is accompanied which includes the activities of charity, social gatherings, festive meals, gift-giving.

Have you been given any gifts today?

I understand that some people might reject such a gift as a result of their religious mentality, but it is normal. The Abrahamic religions which are Judaism, Islam and Christianity seem to have some related practices. They seem to have certain periods of charity, gift-giving, festive meals, etc

But it is quite amazing that these three brother have a weak relationship, so, they seem to disagree in some areas of their beliefs.

In the book of Isaiah 54: 7, Yahweh commanded the people to give their bread to the needy during their fast, so the charity done by the Muslim is a general practice comanded in the Abrahamic religion sacred books.

So, if you are given such a charity, and you know you are not in need of such, to make a better society, you can give to the next neighbor that is in need, instead of returning it back to them as such act will continue creating a valley relationship in the Abrahamic religions. That how we can make the world a better world.

“Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?” Isaiah 58:7

Today so many Abrahamic religious people have become so wise that they save their meals or food during their fastings, to make use of it after fastings. According to the sacred books of the Abrahamic religions, during fastings, the food meant for that period of fast should be given to the poor in the society or the needy.

They are called Abrahamic religions because they believed that Abraham was the first ancestor that Yahweh called and gave him the mandate to start the religious activity that birthed their respective religions.

Yes! How many religious people follow this command of the God of Abraham? What could have been the reason behind this ungodly attitude? Could it be the greed of man, ignorance or the economical state of the society? I think religious people are being affected by one of the factors or all the enlisted factors, making them act in an ungodly manner.

From the very beginning, God created man to be inclusive. Man is to affect his fellow man positively. It is Satanic to oppress or dominate a fellow because God NEVER commanded man to have dominion over another man, rather God wanted man to render service to another man.

Yehoshua(Jesus) taught and left this doctrine for his disciples. The holy prophet, Mohammed (SAW), taught his disciples this same doctrine.

Jesus told his disciples in Mark 10:44-45 “And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be a servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Yahweh, through Moses as a vessel commanded the Israelites in Deuteronomy 15:11 ” For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying. Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and thy needy, in the land.”

Mark 10:44 and Deuteronomy 15:11 have given a lifestyle that defines the inclusiveness of the man, that God created from the very beginning making man the image of God and in His likeness.

For us to make a better world we all must learn how to happily celebrate with our neighbours or those in our society, support one another, help the poor in the society.

The poor play an important role in the society because they create equilibrium by allowing wealth dynamism. Without the poor in the land wealth cannot flow and we can only tell who is wealthy when wealth flows…this is known as wealth dynamics in theology.

Wealth is not tied to money…one can be wealth in money, knowledge, wisdom, material resource, health, emotion, etc. In whatever way you see yourself as being wealth, you just need to open your hands wide for others that may not have what you have to benefit…that makes existence symbiotic, a kind of relationship that we depend and support each other; no man is created to live in isolation, we all need each other and that is why God will not give you all that makes a societal man, to avoid isolation or feelings of “I don’t need anyone in my life to succeed”, we all need someone in our lives to succeed.

Let us celebrate with the Muslims today. Happy Eid al Fitr.
